Shorebirds in Waldoboro

Western Sandpiper and Dunlin

Earlier this week I noticed an eBird Post from the Waldoboro Town Landing . . . quite a few birds including a Blue-headed Vireo.

This morning I drove up on a brisk morning . . . expecting the Vireo to be gone . . . but hoping for the best.

As expected the song birds were gone but down by the boat launch there were dozens of shorebirds trying to stay out of the wind.  The Western Sandpiper was the first one I’ve ever seen in Maine.
