The American Wigeon is seen on occasion throughout the State of Maine . . . but not reliably. I’ve been out a half dozen times this year trying to get one . . . but have struck-out.
Today I tried the Buffalo Ranch . . . a huge cow pasture where they used to run . . . wait for it . . . Buffalo!!!!
Every spring as the snow melts a large section of the now “Cow Pasture” fills up with water and ducks and early arriving shorebirds stop by.
This afternoon I got my first of the year American Wigeon, a bunch of Killdeers and a Green-winged Teal.
