This morning I was birding in South Portland when I got a text message from Ingrid . . . that a Green Heron was being reported in a residential area of . . . South Portland. Well that was convenient.
Trout Brook Preserve is a small (maybe 200 yards long) wooded park in the middle of one of Maine’s largest cities. The park is built around a stream that runs through the community and provides a sancturary birds and animals.
Never found the Green Heron, but I did see a stocky black and white bird in the brush over the stream . . . a Black-crowned Night-Heron.
Four new birds today . . . bringing the Maine Bird Year total to 158.
