Monday, I skipped out of work several times to get a little birding done . . . now January isn’t exactly prime time for such behavior . . . most species and birders have hunkered down for the winter. Unfortunately I was having my right knee replaced on Tuesday and our year to date list was pitifully low.
I got all three Scoters, Harlequins, Great Cormorants, Long-tailed Ducks and the infamous Great Black Hawk that is still hanging around Portland (met two groups of Birders from the mid-west that had travelled to Maine to see it).
While waiting to go into the hospital on Tuesday morning (in a nasty snow storm) . . . Ingrid and I got a Black Guillemot (37 for the year – still pitiful).
