Ethan and Ingrid’s 2024 Big Year (Week 36)

A recap of the 36th week of our 48 State Big Year (2024). We travel to San Diego for one of our more successful pelagic trips of our lives. We also make a trip to the ecologically troubling Salton Sea. In between Los Angeles, San Diego and the Imperial Valley we make numerous stops to pick up a bird here and another bird there as we struggle to keep our year list growing.

To make this week even more challenging . . . Southern California was hit by an historic heat wave where we found ourselves birding in 113 degree heat.

Wow, your species list is amazing but you are working hard for them; 11 hrs on a boat: 113 degrees at the Salton Sea but you are well rewarded…… including some delicious pie at the end of the day!! Looking forward to the next episode. Safe travels

Thanks so very much for sharing your Birding experience in California. That had to be a HOT one. Glad you are doing so well and seeing lots of great biIrds. Some day for me I hope.
Enjoy and blessings as you continue to journey and enjoy your BIG YEAR.
Happy Birding to both of you too.
    Peace, Marty
